- יִסּוּר, יִיסּוּרm. (יָסַר) correction by example, warning example. Snh.45a (ref. to Ez. 23:48) אין לךיי׳ גדול מזה there is no severer warning than this (capital punishment, and therefore disgrace by exposure would be an unnecessary hardship). 2) Pl. יִסּוּרִים, יִסּוּרִין, יִי׳ corrections by suffering, suffering, trials, visitation.
